P.S. With the recent news that Auggie might be out at KTVB ( thanks to BronconationNOW), did Mike Prater outlast Lil Augiee? With the recent news of Prater and the rest of the Statesman employees alledgely taking some pay cuts, wouldn't it be ironic to see the spirited chat between Prater and Lil Augiie in the unemployment office? That being said, I wish both of these guys good luck in finding employment during these tough times. Hate to see the local icons fading away! No Gonzaga in Boise equals BORING.

I can foresee the Wisconsin Badgers sneaking by the Seminoles of Florida State, only because it is 12 seed vs 5 seed!
Here are my kneejerk reaction/predictions to the Tourney visit to Boise ( teams in bold will win according to this basement dwelling blogger). Really want to root for Portland State but this is not your usual Boise Upset-savvy Mojo Tourney. I blame the recession.

West Regional

No. 6 Marquette vs. No. 11 Utah State
No. 3 Missouri vs. No. 14 Cornell

East Regional

No. 5 Florida State vs. No. 12 Wisconsin

No. 4 Xavier vs. No. 13 Portland State

With Mizzou coming back to the hardwood of Boise, the last time the Mizzou Tigers were here in town, the 1994 ending was an instant classic. I was in attendance and whenever I see the clip, I can see myself with a stupid white shirt about 50 feet to Tyus Edney's right as shoots the rock for the coast to coast layup. I am standing up the aisle and had the perfect angle. Still one of the best moments I have ever witnessed firsthand in person( I admit I was not at the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, unlike every other BSU fan.) I just do not see Mizzou losing this time around.


Final note on the 1994 flashback- a lady from my high school class,Amanda Avis, ended up an UCLA cheerleader there, and loved the city of Boise.

Final Final Note, with regards to the lack of Boise Upset Mojo, there is no way, that there will be 3-4 upsets again this year in Boise, right? Can Portland State impersonate the 2001 Hampton Pirates over Iowa State ( Coach Larry Eustachy's career was never the same afterwards)?
Youtube has removed all vid's of the upset over Iowa State due to copyrights...oh well, we lose in the end.

Thankfully the college football off season goes on hiatus for a 5 weeks, as BSU takes to eradicating the painful 2008 P-bowl memories and instead start reloading for the impending season. The Statesman has a pretty decent article on some of the battles about to be waged on the Blue. Idahopress also has a lil tidbit here.....
-Will go on the record and state that I am not a fan of Mad Doug Martin headed to the defense. Love the athleticism but prefer him toting the rock. I understand the need to establish the rb's getting a rhythm with some carries, but why was that not the case last year with IJ? Maybe IJ was simply an equal part/cog in the BSU machine?

- I prefer keeping Hout at defensive end, opposite of King Swyke! Expect more zone blitzes. I do not foresee Bacon Atkinson dropping into zone coverage however!

- Hope Malcom Johnson redshirts ....unless he is too good and will thieve some carries from Harper/Avery.

- I do not think the wideout position is as bleak as it appears. I expect double digit td's for Titus Young. I know that some of those td's are being taken away from Austin Pettis but I can foresee a rejuvenated Young becoming a huge focus.

- The article states the focus will be about the return of emphasis on a dominant run game. I will buck the trend and suggest that Kellen Moore is your best offensive weapon and the passing game should be central part of this offensive machine. Let the passing game set up the run game. Put the ball in your best playmaker's hands as much as possible.

- Wish the practices were accessible as well- but beggars can't be choosers.


Most importantly....spring scrimmages are all at the stadium and free/open to the public .

( except for the Blue Orange game) which might suffer a 17% price increase)

Tuesday, March 17: Pro day for last year's seniors
Thursday, March 19: First scrimmage (2:30 p.m.)
March 21-29: Spring break
Wednesday, April 8: Second scrimmage (2:30 p.m.)
Friday, April 17: Spring Game (6 p.m.)
Note: All scrimmages are held at Bronco Stadium and open to the public.

Donavon Frankenreiter has to be the most laid back surfer/musician in Boise, at least for tonight!
Saw D Frank at the signing party at the Verizon Wireless store off Milwaukee, and he was his humble self. Signing posters and living the dream, one day at a time. They had a raffle at the end for shirts, swag and tickets to the show tonight. My unlucky/lucky ass won two free tix but upon receiving them, I stated that I had some already and they would trade the tix for some gear. I was really hoping for a signed Cordoba guitar, but all I got was Billabong backpack and large t shirt. The backpack is great for my kids and the large v neck shirt is cool looking but won't fit this old man's out of shape body. Guess the kids win out again!

Season Tickets Price Increase

You get the point.....I have heard some of these thoughts:
-the price of doing business
- price off success
- Gene B. killing the Golden Goose/ripping off the faithful fans
- it is about time/should have seen this coming
- still the best tix in town
-not worth the money when they play subpar teams
- worth paying for, to see Nevada & Oregon at home
- held hostage by our love of the program
- Gene B has no choice....make some money or be out of a job
- 3 years ago, I can see it,but with the employers cutting jobs=insanely bad timing
- happy as a clam, maybe I can get better seats now
