I have the usual onslaught of scrimmage pics to upload. That will come in the next 72 hours. However this year will have a twist. Apparently there is new emphasis by the University on not displaying videos or a string/sequence of pics that show the play, mainly formations. During the scrimmage, I sat in the last row of the lower west section, around the 45 yard line. I felt the presence of a gentleman who was focused on my pic-snapping abilities. I glanced up and recognized this staff member's face and realized we were going to have a conversation about the camera. The gentleman asked my intentions and I declared for personal use. He mentioned that there was a worry of the snapshots making its way to the internet, primarily the formations. I stated that I would upload just the close up action shots to the internet. He expressed his worry that Oregon might find their eyes on to this site. I was instantly flattered (remember this fleeting feeling) but I felt a little flustered by the discussion. We parted ways.... It was a stern but polite discussion. The gentleman could have come off rough or a plain jerk, and maybe I expected to be asked to stop the camera shenanigans. The gentleman remained close by, monitoring my actions or perhaps looking for devilish camera-toting bloggers. I continued to snap some pics in rapid fire fashion and soon enough we made eye contact again. I motioned him over and stated that I was taking tight shots of the action and I showed him some of the pics ( perhaps hoping for some admiration, but it never came). The gentleman reiterated that there was a big game coming up..... I shook my head yes and made it clear that I did not want to damage the Broncos' chances. I even suggested that i would give him my cell number and if he objected to any of the contents/pics I would remove it. He asked me what site the pics would show up on and I beamed, " STATUELEFT". He looked to have no knowledge of my site, so my smile faded (BSU has no idea of who I am. Good news is that I have never posted anything to critical or damaging to my alma mater). I gave the gentleman my name and offered up my cell phone, but no dice. The gentleman did not carry one. We separated again, thinking the issue was over....Last thing I wanted was an argument over civil rights, public vs private property and I certainly did not want the school thinking I was supplying trade secrets. The sole purpose of the pics was so the out of towners/friends and family members could see a different angle of the action. I am pretty sure the Oregon coaches have seen enough film to this point. I will not upload vids or any damaging sequential pics, and one reason is that I do want the scrimmages to be closed to the general public. I do enjoy the scrimmages and want the lil kids to keep coming as well. There was several kids in my general vicinity. Just when I thought the drama was over, I made eye contact with gentleman #2 and I motioned him over since he obviously was interested in my activities. went through the same spiel, offered my name and blog site, and I mentioned that I would put up my email if there was any questionable material ( I need the extra hits on the blog anyways)
So there you have it.....thoughts? Just want to clarify that first and foremost I am a Broncos fan. Hopefully this will be a non-issue at future scrimmages....If gentleman #1 and #2 have any questions, feel free to email me at statueleft@hotmail.com . P.S. I did hear from a source that a local member of the media was also frowned upon from showing any video footage on the local media avenues. Maybe I made the big time after all. Lastly, this sarcastic camera-toting blogger recognizes that gentleman #1 & #2 are simply doing their job. In the past I might have referred to these gentleman as part of the Gestapo but they were both professional. I just keep thinking they are barking up the wrong tree.......

Warped Tour came through the area once again. What is usually played at an outdoor venue, quickly took it's dog and pony show inside due to torrential rainstorms (or maybe the rain was just going to linger all day long). I benefited from the venue being moved inside since I was there just to enjoy a day away from work while monitoring my teenager's whereabouts.....
For some reason, the closing act was Bad Religion. I was not really excited about seeing them, but they were chosen as the closer I think there was a just lack of a bigger performer at this stop on the tour. I went to enjoy Bouncing Souls and Shooter Jennings, but the son of Waylon decided to skip out on Boise. My guess is that he is headed to the Braun Brothers Reunion as the secret guest on Saturday Night up in Challis. Just sayin'....it could happen. (EDITED- Mickey and the Motorcars ended up being the special guest- I guess I expected more)
While the weather was poor outside, I did enjoy the seat in the front row in order for better picture taking and video opportunities.......Here is some that made the cut.....damn battery went dead half way through and the backup battery is 5 yrs old and only lasted 5 minutes. Oh well- live and learn! Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band- The Reverend introduced his wife, Breezy, on the washboard and his brother on the 5 gallon pickle bucket ( meaning the drums). After the intro, they went into "Your Cousin on Cops" which was a good little jingle. I could be wrong about that, and played my favorite song of theirs, "Mama's Fried Potatos", after the intro....Breezy This official video is worth watching and wish I had time to get the whole video of the band performing this song.....
Underoath ( Christian band that does not overtly preach their religious influence....which is nice) The keyboards/audio guy was really looked like he was enjoying the gig- dude on far left. The guitarist with the huge beard was also very extroverted. The beard was truly something.

Bouncing Souls - lead singer, Greg, announced he is from New Jersey and resides now in McCall, Idaho.
Greg also announced to the crowd that the set was dedictaed to John Hughes, who had recently passed away. The creative angst movie maker put out a ton of great movies, to long to list, but my favorite was Ferris Bueller. In the pic, below, Greg reads a short piece about the Breakfast Club.... Chiodos

Less Than Jake- pretty fun set....they harassed the people in the stands who chose not to get on the floor. I am sure they were unaware of the fact that a security guard was holding people back to due to many people on the floor. Lame, I know....but the truth hurts
So there was man in a orange/red windbreaker and blue jeans who appeared to be in his later 40's perhaps and the boys from LTJ invivted "DAD" to the stage....DAD eventually moved on stage and and was threatened with getting french kissed by some nasty hillbilly white trash woman of the night who was up in the stands....LTJ started up their song and Tim/DAD went back to his resting spot on the side of the floor....After LTJ found that Dad escaped, they instructed all of the dirty sleazy sluts to grind/dirty dance on Tim/Dad.

With the recent success of this lil Reunion up Challis way, flocks of fans have contributed some changes...Like moving from the venue from Stanley to the Challis ( what a mistake for Stanley) Golf Course. Unfortunately last year some idiot drunkard heaved a beer bottle at the guitar player in the Randy Rogers Band during the Street Dance...and that quickly put an end to that. To the guitarist's credit, they could have pulled their boots up and headed out town but they decided to keep playing...the guitarist needed stitches but he was going to wait til he got the next town/gig ( awesome in my book). The liability issues became apparent and financially unrealistic. While Muzzie Braun thinks we should have pulled some outlaw justice and pulled the bottle chucker down to the gully near the side of the road, the reality of the situation has since changed the Reunion. No more street dance, and probably the biggest change is the lack of the cooler pass.
Years past, you could pay $20-25 bucks and you can bring in a big ass cooler of whatever liquid/food you want. The concoctions of liquor that I have seen guzzled during a show is amazing and somewhat scary. Pacing yourself does not play out in Challis at a Reunion show. That being said, the cooler pass is no more and reality has set up in due to these liability issues. One positive change that has been recognized is the honeybucket sanitary issues however. This was/has been an issue in the last few years, and so much so, that some shirts have been made up supporting the need for more honeybuckets/portapotties....
The reason I bring up these changes, is while I believe change is good, the changes at the Braun Bros Reunion has hindered me from attending this year. The street dance was an epic adventure and the epicenter of a lot of interesting memory making incidents. The Friday night acoustic shows were exciting, but everything lead up to Saturday. The all day Saturday show would feature the lesser know Texas Red Dirt acts, followed by the namesake, Muzzie Braun, and his brothers pulling those old guitars. Eventually Muzzie would let his boys take over, and one set of boys would front Reckless Kelly and another set would lead Mickey and the Motorcars. Occasionally in years past, some big time Alt-Country stars would make their way through the mountains, including Robert Earl Keen.
One big change this year, that I mentioned is the lack of the street dance. They will ignite the festivities at the normal Challis Community Stage near the golf course tomorrow night. Mickey and the Motorcars ( MMC) will kick start/headline with 3 other supporting acts. One of them is Ray Wylie Hubbard who just so happens to be playing at Alive after 5 in Boise tonight for free.* The bad news is MMC will be departing due to scheduling issues right after the show. Well, there in lies the rub.....I love when on Saturday night, MMC and RK would jon there Dad on stage to close down the Reunion in the old days, but this year will be different. More change, right? Now according to the flyer on the Braun Brothers Reunion, MMC is playing Thurs, parting ways and letting Cross Canadian Ragweed takeover on Friday night. Not so fast my friends, when looking on MMC's tour dates, it states that the MMC will be up in Challis all weekend long. So who knows.....change, change, change. One thing that caught my eye is the special guest that is suppose to grace our presence on Saturday night. Rumors of Willie Nelson stopping by, since his daughter, Paula Nelson, is playing in Challis on Saturday. Only problem is that Willie is on tour in Lubbock that night. As for my guess as to who the special guests is.....I will venture Hank Williams III, but that is just a unrealistic shot in the dark...I have no stinking idea. Maybe Shooter Jennings...since he is playing in Boise on Friday night at the Warped Tour of all places! The only problem is that he is supposed to be in Utah on Saturday night.....I just hope the special guest is not MMC, since I am not making the 4 hour plus drive this weekend. For all I know
*Finally, and the main reason why I brought this Reunion up, is that a few of the acts are playing tonight in lil ol' Boise. Ray Wylie Hubbard kicks off Alive after 5....free venue where local Boiseans will probably enjoy the hot hot hot sun and beer/food more than this style of Outlaw Country. RWH then heads off to Challis, where he will be playing at the Reunion on Thursday night- but would not be surprised if he shows up at the Knitting Factory before heading out of town. The night picks up with three good bands at the local Knitting Factory, with the Randy Rogers Band ( no truth to the rumor that the guitarist will be sporting a helmet), CCR and MMC. To my friends who are not headed to the Reunion, you should attend this lil gig with friends and meet future ex-wives.....If you are headed up to the reunion, enjoy tonight's lil flavor in your ear before you take that 4 hour plus drive up the mountain.
....So it was Greg McMackin who is responsible for the removal of the term "RAINBOW" from the University's nickname a decade ago..... The one thing that stands out is......what if Coach McMackin was right in describing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish's team hand clap/dance? Where is the video of this lame dance?
The local media, IDSTATESMAN and IDPRESSTRIBUNE, is taking all of the credit for fanning these flames- pun intended......They have enough links to go all night ( think Viagra and Ecstasy at a "Men's only Bathhouse").
This phrase or slip of the tongue by the University of Hawaii head coach is vaguely similar to following in the footsteps of our United States President. Within the last week, our President used the phrase "stupidly" when describing a policeman arresting a man for breaking into his own house. The result from the President fanning the flames in that situation resulted in a Beer Summit between the President, the officer and the Harvard Professor/Cat Burglar. Maybe McMackin will find himself in a Martini Summit or Zima Summit. No word in what city ( by a body of water) that this Zima Summit might commence in. One thing is for sure, it will certainly not be near the sovereign state of Utah. Hopefully all of the coaching community will learn from this "teachable" moment, when in front of reporters at a news conference, there is bound to be a digital recorder turned to the "on" position.
On local sports radio today, one of the reporters ( and in this case, a sports editor of the local fishwrap) was called on the carpet for laughing/giggling after the McMackin slip of the tongue. I will give him a pass since he did admit to laughing at first but chalked it up to the nervous laughter of rationalizing what in the world the Hawaii coach just said. This same sports editor did rally his fellow giggling cronies and highly recommend that they all report on the "slur" story, rather than adhere to the Hawaii's coach request to not print the "slur".

Unfortunately sometimes we need to crack on our own- even the great Canadian Bacon. Please save your "Glazed Bacon" jabs- the young kid will be punished, serve his penance and get back to doing what he does best. Hopefully this is a wake up call, where apparently no one was hurt, and a reminder that these youngsters are not invincible!

As far as the creepy (and I mean creepy) invasion of EA's hotel room, I will only say that I would not be shocked if it was ruse to garner some publicity for a show that is coming up about EA. 50/50 at best but in today's age of attention-seeking celebrities, I just would not be surprised. I mean how convenient that a man who just so happens to have the tools to access a thin hotel wall and have the tools to record someone disrobing, just has to be the latest hot internet sensation I mean, did the creep have to throw a few benjamins out there so the creep could get set up right next to EA's room. Wow, what a coincidence!
I will not put the censored pics up on here but if this was my wife or daughter, and these pics were out in the public, it would be go time. ESPN IS NOT HAPPY AT ALL and even barred some reporters from the NYPost. Not sure I blame ESPN since it seems that these censored pics seem a lil bit more revealing than your standard "reveal". Getting back to BSU football, there has been speculation about playing Virginia Tech in D.C. to kickoff the 2010 Campaign. If it comes to fruition and it sounds promising, that is good get for the BSU AD office (very tough matchup to boot)! Time to pop some good stuff
One last note to add......Was fortunate enough to partake in the Blazed and Confused Tour last Sunday. Beat the heat with some liquid refreshment. One of my fellow concertgoers, ( her first ever concert at age 29, huh!) got her elbow bumped, and somehow/someway got her iphone dropped into her beer....good news is that the phone works just enough to send these pics to me. Nothing special but good times were had by all!
