because Tom Scott made an unofficial appearance, dressing down for the "ho hum" scrimmage, but he gets a pass for the Pete Zimowsky threads......good to see Mr. Scott out there gathering the scoop ( notice the old school pen & pad) for his next Scott Slant. Also spotted celebrity team surgeon, or least used to be team surgeon, Dr. George Wade....A.K.A. Wade the Blade ( below in the blue jacket)

Interesting enough, local DJ/Sportscaster/Handyman J Bates was seen next to Mr. Scott and got me thinking.....what if Tom Scott and J Bates replace the living legend himself?

Spotted a smiling Paul J Schneider cruising the sidelines, being distracted by people wanting to talk to him about......anything new, I suppose. I am sure Paul J was there for the football and maybe working some contacts for new employment. He did make his way towards the last 30 minutes of the scrimmage up into the stands, and I could have swore I had an inkling to start clapping and give Paul J a standing ovation. However, since no one else seemed all that excited to be in the general vicinity of a living legend, I chose to take some quick snapshots of him instead. Not sure if he was thinking I was a stalker or a KIDO 580 AM investigator tailing him to see if there is any dirt to drag up, in order to take the heat off the new Bronco Sports Radio Station. I left the scrimmage without pestering him, but I almost shook his hand as I walked by him, but I chose better and headed to StatueLeft-mobile in the Mountain View High School Parking Lot.

I might try to get inside Paul J's mind and see what he thinks about the QB marathon.....

Above everything else, I believe the Boise State defensive unit got the memo that defense usually dominates early on the spring practices as well as summer camp. Some how that memo got lost last week.....must have been a slow boat from Hosei, Japan.

Spring Scrimmage #2 Bizarro edition

and there will be pics uploaded tomorrow. Need to clear my head after seeing some brain-jarring hits by Acrey, Jason Robinson and others on the much improved defense. One thing I can tell you, the offense is got held in check by the D. There seemed to be more penalties and dropped balls ( Avery with no one in 20 yards and Titus dropped a inside screen, but Lomax had to double pump to avoid the rushing lineman's raised arms, and probably threw off the rhythm).

and the stats of the scrimmage....which to me are completely over analyze and I equate them to spring training stats or exhibition stats, I would rather measure the plus/minus on each play and grade out that way. I digress and submit to those are stat freaks....

Offense was Ho Hum, but the world was made right by an appearance by Paul J. Tom Scott was also spotted, groomed in causal wet weather gear. Also spotted include George Wade The Blade, Durrell Goodloe from early 90'2 fame, and a possible Brent Thompson sighting. Phil the old academic tutor to the athletes( forgot his last name) was also at the scrimmage and saw him speak to a few of the coaches before the scrimmage.

One thing I don't need to wait til tomorrow to discuss was the snaps from center while in the shotgun formation. Disgusting......but this is why it's called Spring Practice.

Toshi and Julian Hawkins took some huge hits and might need some advil tonight or a cold beverage. Best thing to look forward too, is the Blue and Orange Game is week from tonight at 6pm on the Blue.

Paul J and his cohort, Jeff " Arabacus" Caves are out

updated as of 7:17pm...... "I feel bizarre right now".....let me tell the general public, I usually don't have any bizarre feelings like I did during some college late night adventures, but bizarre is a word only Paul J can come up with to describe his feelings

...not of the closet but out of a job ( as of right now) when it comes to broadcasting Boise State Football over the outdated radio waves.

That gushing sound is the collective groan emitting out of the Treasure Valley ( and the rest of Bronco Nation).

Who are our next options? What talent will Peak Broadcasting farm out to produce audio orgasms, when describing what the action in the house that Lyle Smith built? The audio orgasms was a lil strong but you get the gist.

With great sadness, I report this info.......but still hold out hope that the Citadel contract that has it's clutches into Paul J will soon subside and let Paul J be free to ......move over to KIDO 580am and attempt to his best phoenix rising impression, resurrect his own broadcasting career ( not to mention his delivery and voice, which we will surely miss).

What does 35 yrs of tradition get you these days? A swift kick in the nuts....

Memo to BSU Athletic Department, who ironically has had the golden touch on everything else they have done in recent years ( outside limiting public and bloggers access to the football team), ........is this truly what you want to do. Set Paul J out to pasture with the rest of horses, where the best announcers graze and try to downplay their rooting/homerisms.

In protest, I suggest waving the now infamous blue towel in a show of support for Paul J, at the spring scrimmage #2.
