One recent trend that I am noticing as I watch ESPNU and their signing day scrolling line, is how many of the top notch payers ( primarily skilled guys) who are already enrolled in school. It will be interesting to see if the pressure of not coming early to school ( in essence graduating early) becomes an recruiting hindrance by some programs. Hear me out..... So a well known recruiting factory tries to offer an athlete a scholly but really emphasizes the need to enroll early, but then the athlete is not prepared to graduate early ( maybe due to being a later riser in the recruiting game), will that well known recruiter pass on the said athlete, in order to go after another athlete who can benefit from getting in the weight room ( 5-6 months ahead of other recruits). I am just saying this could be a slippery slope in a few years. Right now, I think all of the top notch recruits should sign early and enroll in the spring, to grasp the playbook, hit the weight room and slowly engage in the college lifestyle. This early enrollment is not for everyone, clearly, but I can see this being a decisive factor in some recruiting battles down the line ( perhaps less than 5 years). Thoughts? Some prefer to stick around to attend prom or compete in other sports, but priorities are priorities, right?
